Welcome to Northern Nevada Legal Aid (NNLA), formerly known as Washoe Legal Services! Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $66,500 – $70,000, depending on experience
  • 13 paid holidays annually
  • Generous PTO program accruing up to 24 days of PTO per year (increased accrual after 2 years)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Client Representation: Establish and maintain a confidential attorney-client relationship, conducting thorough assessments and maintaining regular contact throughout the case.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work with a multidisciplinary team to advocate for clients’ best interests, aiming for timely resolution and stability in their lives.
  • Court and Legal Proceedings: Represent clients in various legal proceedings, including court hearings and drafting legal documents.
  • Crisis Intervention: Respond to emergency situations, providing immediate legal counsel and taking necessary legal actions.
  • Mediation and Negotiation: Engage in mediation and negotiation to reach settlements prioritizing clients’ welfare.
  • Community Engagement and Advocacy: Attend outreach events, collaborate with community partners, and advocate for systemic changes in legal and social welfare laws.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of case activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be a member of the Nevada Bar, possess an active and good standing Bar License from any United States jurisdiction, or have recently taken the Nevada Bar exam and are awaiting results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong relationship building skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Empathetic communicator with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and travel to clients and court appearances as necessary.
  • A genuine passion for the mission of NNLA and a commitment to serving low-income and vulnerable populations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Previous experience working with children, vulnerable individuals, or in a legal aid setting is preferred but not required.

 

Location:

  • The role is primarily on-site at NNLA’s main office located at 299 S. Arlington Ave, situated between Reno’s vibrant Downtown and Midtown neighborhoods. A hybrid or telework schedule may be considered based on organizational needs.
