Fund a Fellow
The word FELLOW originates in the Old English “feolaga” which literally means “one who lays down money in a joint enterprise,” which in turn comes from the Old Norse word “felagi,” from “fe” meaning cattle, property or money and the Germanic base of “lay.”
FUNDI is a South African term meaning “an expert or enthusiast for a subject.” It originates from the Rhodesian (Zimbabwean) “Nungi umfundi” or “one who learns.” As in “she is a fitness fundi.”
After spanning the western hemisphere deciphering our origin story, we would like to turn our sights back to you—our local community leaders to help lay down money (or cattle) in a joint enterprise to Fund a Fundi for Advocacy (or Advocacy fellowship).
Special thanks go out to all of you for your continued support and generosity and ask that you help us fund this critical role.
