Position Overview

NNLA is seeking a knowledgeable, proactive, and people‑focused Human Resources Manager to oversee and strengthen the organization’s HR functions. This role is responsible for supporting leadership, managing day‑to‑day HR operations, ensuring compliance with employment laws, enhancing HR processes, and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.

The HR Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for all HR matters and will collaborate closely with organizational leadership and staff to support NNLA’s mission and team.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources Operations

  • Oversee all HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, compensation, benefits administration.
  • Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook.
  • Manage employee records and ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Work as Paychex liaison for onboarding.

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

  • Develop job postings and recruitment strategies to attract qualified, mission-driven candidates.
  • Coordinate hiring processes, including screening, interviewing, and reference checks.
  • Facilitate new-hire onboarding and orientation programs.
  • Facilitate Intern Programs alongside Pro Bono coordinator.

Employee Relations

  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers.
  • Support conflict resolution and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Promote a culture of respect, professionalism, and teamwork.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure organizational compliance with state and federal labor laws, HR best practices, and nonprofit requirements.
  • Manage HR reporting, audits, and documentation.
  • Stay informed on changes in employment regulations and recommend updates as needed.
  • Experience with Nevada-specific regulations.

Organizational Development

  • Support leadership in developing training, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to strategic planning related to workforce needs and organizational growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5+ years of progressive HR experience; nonprofit experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience with a unionized organization is preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR compliance, and HR best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, handle sensitive matters, and use sound judgment.
  • Experience with Paychex software helpful but not required.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or similar certification a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

  • 60k-80k salary based on experience.
  • Meaningful work that supports the community and advances access to justice.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO): Immediately receive 35 hours of PTO; accrue 7 hours per pay period after 90 days.
  • Health, Dental, Vision, & Life Insurance package available: Eligible after 30 days. NNLA covers 100% of employee cost and 75% for dependents.
  • Retirement (401k): Eligible after 90 days; employer match up to 4%, with a 6-year graded vesting schedule.
  • Section 125 Plan: Available after 90 days.
  • Paid Holidays: 13 paid holidays annually.
